Dress and Academic Regalia: Your academic attire will consist of a cap, gown, and tassel. Please wear footwear that is suitable for this important occasion. If you have questions about alternate attire, please contact the commencement coordinator at: commence@hawaii.edu.
The UHH Bookstore has caps, gowns & tassels available for purchase. Bookstore hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays - Fridays. If you are a large (over 250 lbs.) or tall (over 6’6”) person, please place a Custom Cap & Gown order at the Bookstore as soon as possible.
Gold Honor Cords: Students achieving a cumulative 3.5 GPA will be mailed a letter indicating that they can purchase a Gold Honor Cord at the Bookstore for $9.95. Honors Cords are to be worn during commencement. The Record’s Office will determine the candidates. Please bring your Honors letter with you when you come to purchase your cord at the Bookstore.
Class Rings: Please inquire at the UHH Bookstore if you are interested in ordering a class ring. Bookstore hours are 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Mondays - Fridays.
Announcements: Please inquire at the UHH Bookstore if you are interested in ordering graduation announcements. Please note that announcements are NOT required for entrance into the commencement ceremony.
Diploma and Cover: You will receive your cover at commencement, with a note about when your diploma will be ready. If you cannot attend commencement, call the Records and Registration Office at 974-7385 for information about receiving your cover and diploma.
Commencement Photos:
Taking Photos -
An official photographer will be taking photos of graduates receiving diploma covers. An area will be set aside in the stadium for family members to take photos, as well. A photo opportunity site with a UHH banner will also be available outside the stadium for graduates to pose for photos with friends and family.
Ordering Commencement Photos -
1) About 3 days after commencement, log on to www.picturemanofhawaii.com
2) Select the red "Order Photos" button and enter your event password of UHH1206
3) All photos will be posted in order of presentation. Ordering instructions, Prices, and an event deadline will also be posted.

Guests: Guests will NOT be required to have tickets. The doors to the stadium will open at 8:15 a.m. After the ceremony, guests can find graduates on the floor encircling the graduate seating area, under the letters of the alphabets indicating their last names.
Kupuna and Guests with Disabilities: Ms. Susan Shirachi, Director of Disability Services, is accepting requests for assistance to kupuna and guests with disability-related needs. The stadium is wheelchair accessible, alternate format can be made available, and sign language interpreters will be present. For these and other questions, contact Susan as soon as possible. Dignitaries: A special seating area will be reserved for dignitaries. If you know that an official from your home intends to attend, please inform Jenny Wakida by May 1st and we will facilitate that person’s welcome. Ms. Wakida can be reached at 974-7707 or jwakida@hawaii.edu. Dignitaries will be given reserved parking, arranged through Ms. Wakida.
Parking: Parking for graduates and guests will be available in the gravel lot behind the stadium, free of charge and on a first-come, first-served basis. Pre-arranged reserved parking for dignitaries and people with special needs will be in the paved stalls at the front and side of the stadium.
Student Speaker: Auditions were held on March 19, 2007. The name of the student speaker will be announced soon.
Music: The Commencement Chorus, comprised of faculty, staff, and students, traditionally sings Hawai'i Pono`i and Pulelo Ha'aheo. If you would like to sing at your commencement, email Justina Mattos, Commencement Coordinator, at: commence@hawaii.edu, for details about rehearsal times.
