Suggested Guidelines for an Approval Process for a Distance Learning Program
The UH Hilo Approval Process for a Distance Learning Program is for the establishment of a new distance delivered program based on an existing program. This process will be revised with the anticipated establishment of the UH Hilo Instructional Technology Committee in the Fall 2009. CCECS and the Office of Campus Technology will assist departments in designing and preparing for such programs.
A New Certificate or Degree Program.
A department wishing to begin a new certificate or degree program must submit a request for Authorization to Plan an Academic Program. The process and the guidelines are provided by UH Executive Policy E5.201; the UH Hilo request form is posted at http://www.uhh.hawaii.edu/uhh/vcaa/documents/AuthorizationtoPlananAcademicProgram.doc
Specific guidelines given by the UH Hilo 2006-2011 Academic Technology Plan are not part of the process but are of value.
