Science of Diet and Weight Control |

Basic understanding of the weight control of the body and the multiple factors involved in health, fitness and weight control. The course centers on the body’s physiological factors concerning weight and composition, and three keys to weight control: control of energy intake, regular physical activity, and behavior modification. This course examines Hawaiian/Asian/Pacific eating habits and diet, and genealogical factors in body composition and weight control. Topics of local culture and nature are discussed (e.g. the advent of Spam during World War II in Hawaii and how Spam is still a staple for many of the local Hawaiians). |
