Frequently Asked Questions: Read the Syllabus

• Q: How can I get my online students to read the syllabus thoughtfully-- before the course begins or very early in the term?
  • Answer: Give a syllabus quiz for the first assignment and make it count points. You can do this on the Assignments page: post the questions in the Assignments HTML box and have students type their answers into their response HTML box.
  • Answer: Make a movie and post on the Announcements or the Modules page (You can make a movie on a Mac using iShowU and Photo Booth. Walk students thru the major sections, highlighting one or two key points for each section concerning your syllabus.
