For the 21st consecutive time, UH-Hilo and Peking University will co-sponsor the Summer Institute in Chinese Thought and Chinese Culture. The program will include lectures on Chinese culture at Peking University (Beida) as well as field trips to various historical sites and cultural centers in China. Be sure to request a brochure.
Peking University will grant 2 undergradute credits and issue a certificate including your picture. English translation will be provided for all classes and activities. Students will obtain 4 undergrad credits from UH Hilo, and the credits can be used to satisfy one UH English "writing intensive" requirement. CHUS grad students may register for CHUS 680: Chinese Culture Study Tour(3) toward 30 credits required for CHUS MA degree. We close each summer session with a Peking Duck (kao ya) banquet and graduation ceremony.
"Old timers," those who have previously participated in our tours, may obtain a substatial fee reduction ($600). Auditors are welcome, but must follow the normal registration process.
