Practical Gardening Workshop I: Controlling Pests in the Garden

Hawaii Tribune Herald garden columnist Nick Sakovich, retired farm advisor for
the University of California Cooperative Extension and former Administrator of
Master Gardener Programs, is back. This time the focus is on the primary types of pests that you will encounter while gardening: plant diseases and insects. Nick will address the common types of fungi, bacteria and viruses that affect
your garden and what you can do to control them as well as discuss how to recognize the signs and symptoms of the common insect pests that invade your garden and what you can do to deal with them effectively.

Citrus

Care and maintenance of backyard citrus is the primary focus of this one day workshop taught by Hawaii Tribune Herald garden columnist Nick Sakovich, retired farm advisor for the University of California Cooperative Extension and former Administrator of Master Gardener Programs. Topics to be addressed will include fertilizing, pruning, insect and disease control, varieties and rootstocks, how to buy a good tree and so much more! By taking what you learn from this workshop, ideal citrus can be yours in no time.
