Literature by Native Hawaiian Women
Miyoko Sugano, retired from the UHH English Department, will lead discussions about the works in the recently published anthology Ho’okupu: An Offering of Literature by Native Hawaiian Women. Several of the authors themselves will partake in the discussion, which provides students with a rare opportunity to discover what moved the author to write a particular story, poem, or play and what process she used. Open to literary enthusiasts as well as those interested in learning more about some Hawaiian cultural practices. Students can purchase
the anthology at any bookstore for $12.95.
