Crop Protection Specialization

General Information

The undergraduate Crop Protection specialization was established in 1988. The Crop Protection student learns to manage a wide variety of plant problems which are detrimental to agriculture production. Since plant problems come from many sources, this curriculum draws its courses from the areas of Entomology, Plant Pathology, Weed Science, and Horticulture. In addition, the student is required to take "production" agriculture courses, as well as biology courses, making the Crop Protection curriculum truly interdisciplinary in scope.

Why Study Crop Protection?

Graduates in Crop Protection can obtain employment with private enterprises or government agencies concerned with plant pest control, crop protection, or environmental protection. In addition, the Crop Protection curriculum has enough flexibility to allow a student to meet the requirements of most graduate schools and thus be able to pursue a graduate degree.

Requirements for Graduation

To earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture with a specialization in Crop Protection, a student must complete a minimum of 123 semester hours with a cumulative GPA of 2.0. The course work must be in the following areas:
