On April 7, 2001, 16 of our members volunteered their morning to planting trees at the Ookala Community Forest Project. We worked in the morning then held a bar-be-que at Kolekole Beach Park for lunch. We planted over 80 seedlings of Milo, Kamani, and the Gold Tree in various areas on the site. Our host and the project work coordinator, Danny White was very informative and gave us a tour of the 40 acre site including a beautiful spot by the coast under a stand of Ironwoods, bordered by two little valleys abundant with ti's and hala.
